The Optimist Club of Port Stanley is a local service club chartered by Optimist International. Since our incorporation as a not for profit corporation in 1970, our club members have been striving to make our community and the world a better place for our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. Members recognize that we must contribute something to the life of the community from which we and our families draw our daily benefits.
The mission of the Optimist Club of Port Stanley is to develop Optimism as a philosophy of life; to promote an active interest in civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; and to aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community and the world.
Optimist International was founded in 1919. There are now 114,000 members in 3500 clubs around the world. Each club operates as a separate entity, running and supporting programs most needed by their communities as decided by club members.
All monies collected at fundraisers and through donations go directly back into the community focused on but not limited to youth and Kids in the community.
By supporting healthy activities for young people, providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in Kids.
Why join an Optimist Club?
People join for several reasons:
• To help children in our community
• To make positive changes in our area
• To make business contacts
• To develop new skills
• To take part and complete the Personal Growth and Involvement Leadership Certificate
• To meet new people
You gain as much, or more, than you give. You can develop marketable skills, grow as a person, expand your social circle and get the personal satisfaction of giving of yourself.
Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month
7pm at the Port Stanley Library
